Orion’s latest new product is the EON 70mm ED Quadruplet Astrograph Refractor for wide field imaging. With a focal length of 350mm (f/5), the astrograph procuces an image circle of 43mm, allowing capture of almost 6 degrees when using a full format camera. The four-element lens system utilizes two Hoya FC-100 ED lenses that Orion claims creates a flat field up to 35mm without an additional field flattener. The telescope is supplied with a threaded 3-inch rack-and-pinion focuser that can accept 42mm or 48mm t-thread using provided adapters, or using the focuser’s native female 54mm thread. A 360-degree rotatable focuser collar is included. Included rings have a bottom Vixen-style dovetail bar and a top rail for attaching accessories. A hard case, retractable dew shield with slip-on cover, and thread-on rear port cap are also included.
