Orion has announced a new EON 70mm ED quadruplet astrograph. This four-element refractor uses two Hoya FC-100 ED lenses for a high degree of color correction, contrast, and field flatness for deep-sky imaging. With a focal ratio of f/5 and a focal length of 350mm, the EON 70mm astrograph delivers a field of view of nearly 6 degrees across a full-frame 43mm image circle. No additional field flattener is required. The scope includes a dual-speed 3” rotatable rack-and-pinion focuser with 29mm of travel and a focuser tube with M54 threads for direct camera attachment. It also includes threaded M48 and M42 adapters for compatibility with a wide range of astronomy cameras. The EON 70mm quadruplet astrograph comes with mounting rings, a Vixen-style dovetail plate, and a carrying handle that functions as a mount for a guide scope and as an Arca-Swiss dovetail for mounting on a camera tripod. This portable astrograph weighs 8.5lbs and has a length of 12.75” with the dew shield retracted.
