iOptron Announces the New Sky-Hunter Mount

iOptron is accepting pre-orders on their new SkyHunter ultra-compact equatorial/altazimuth mount. Aimed at astrophotographers, nightscape imagers, and visual observers who value a full-feature mount in a small package, the iOptron SkyHunter weighs 2.9lbs and has a capacity of 11lbs in both equatorial and alt-azimuth modes. The mount includes dual-axis servomotors with optical encoders for accurate tracking and go-to functionality. It also features four tracking rates: solar, lunar, sideral (1x), and 1/2x for sky and landscape imaging, all of which work in both the northern and southern hemispheres. The SkyHunter is controllable through iOS or Android devices with the iOptron Mobile Command app, through an optional iOptron 8410 hand controller, or with a computer via ASCOM or INDI. The mount also features a Vixen dovetail saddle, a built-in rechargeable battery for up to 10 hours of operation, a built-in Wi-Fi adapter for full ASCOM control, and a USB port for firmware upgrade and computer control. It also comes with a standard 1.25” steel tripod and a pier extension.
