Baader Planetarium has announced a new multiport instrument selector to allow easy switching between different cameras, spectrographs, or an eyepiece. The Instrument Multi Port IMP85 features allows three instruments to be mounted and used during the night without physically swapping instruments. One port is straight-through without intervening optics, while the other two are automated and fed by fused silica mirrors. Adaptors can be used to accommodate difference in backfocus, making the different instruments essentially parfocal. Baader notes remote observatories and public observing nights with both photography and visual observing planned as common use cases.
